2016 Annual Report

Our Goal:

To strengthen and support Indigenous Shias the follower of Ahlul Bayt a.s. in Djibouti, Ethiopia and Somalia, so that Indigenous Shias in Horn of Africa can practice Islamic faith independently.

Ethiopia

2016 was very busy year specially in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. As our resource center became very popular, famous and effective.

1.    100s of books were distributed throughout Horn of Africa.

 

2.    50 students were sent to Lebanon and I.R. of Iran.

3.    20 more Ethiopians accepted the Madehab of Jaafary through our Center.

4.    Full Program during Muharram and Safar.

     

5.    5 Ulemas from Qom visited our center and served during Muharram and Holy Month of Ramadhan.

This year Muharram and Safar program was not regular because of involuntarily location changes.

Since we are operating our activities in rental location, we had to move into 3 locations unintentionally. The location were sold and we had to move and the second and third. Hope this time we don’t get similar problem.  In this regard if we get full cooperation from Mo’mineen and IHS, we better buy our own location for our center.

6.    We could unite all Ethiopian Shia groups, now working under our Center.

      

7.    We rented bigger location good for our activities in Lebu area of Addis Ababa. From November 2016 we are operating our all activities in bigger location at Lebu, todays rent is $1,000 per month.

     

8.    10 students got basic Islamic knowledge from our Center.

9.    5 Students continuously reside in our center to be familiar with Shia traditions.

   

10.  The coordinator gave 4 lectures in different occasion in I.R.Iran Embassy and Halls.

  

11. The coordinator Hashim Okera had 3 visits at the IHS. Kitchener Office. Had direct meeting with Hojjatul Islam wal Muslimeen Sheikh Shafiq Hudda.

12. The coordinator Hashim Okera visited I.R.of Iran. He could renew the Ijaza of collecting Sehme Imam by Ayatullah al Udma Sayyed Siistani from Qom by Hojjatul Islam wal Muslimeen Sayyed Shahrestani.

13. Meeting with different Maraja’ in Qom. Also received letter of recognition from the office of Ayatullah Sayyed Mohammad Taki Modarrasi.

                                               

14. 3 Laptops, Video Camcorder Camera, 1 Photo Camera, 10 UBS Flashes given to different Muballighs from different areas.

15. Helped two sick people who could not afford their Hospital bills in rural area.

16. Helped One shia group to have income generating project. Handmade Bakery system.

17. 5 Muballighs get regular monthly hadiya.

18. 15^th Shaban – Celebrated Birth Anniversary of Imam Mahdi ajfj.

   

19. Holy Month of Ramadhan Full Program the whole Month with full breakfast and dinner with Dua e Iftitah, Kalam and Majalis. 30 to 35 persons attended regularly

  

2016 was the first year that IndoPakistani Shia community in Ethiopia contributed ready food for the whole month.

Somalia

1.    Small center under Somali Aalim graduated from Lebanon.

2.    Imam Kazim Liberary.

3.    5 regular students who get Shia Fiqh.

4.    8 Students sent for higher Islam studies.

Djibouti

No activities for the time being, lack of fund.

Iqra Project        

We could successfully print 3 books

1.    500 copies An Introduction to Islamic Principles from the point of View of Shia Faith. by Ayatullah al Huda of Qom. In English.

        

This book was dedicated for late Sheikh Ghulamhussein Moosa Okera of Arusha, Tanzania who in his young ages did tremendous historical Tabligh works. All cost was carried by the wellwishers of Marhum.

2.  1000 copies  Elal Mahdi Ya Eibaadillah. In Arabic.

3.  500 copies Towards The Faith of Majority – the first 19 letters from al Murajaat – the right path, by Sayyed Sharafuddin both in English and Arabic.

Insha Allah on receiving sponsors and full budget we will print more books in Ethiopia. The reason is we skip from the custom and postage hustles.

Translation works

Translation work needs full commitments and responseblity. Because we could not raise budget for good translators that charge approximately $10 per page; instead we decided to print books in English and Arabic for the time being.

English and Arabic Books are in high demand as university students and ulemas need. For your information Ethiopia has population of 100 Million plus neibouring Somalia 15 Million.

Books in local languages are not only needed but very important, as majority of people would be able to benefit from those publications.

We will need enough fund for Iqra Projects, we request all Mo’mineen and I.H.S. Kitchener to kindly consider this project as priority.
