Women’s Wing currently comprises of ten members who work side by side to serve the community in line with the set goals of the Idara. The tailoring centre is working under their supervision. On the recommendation of Women’s Wing two girls from the vicinity of Mirbehri Srinagar have been sponsored for imparting paramedical training for two years in “Tahira Khanam’s Institute” in 2009 and Tuition fee of Rs 35,000/- as well as other fee dues for the first year were paid out of their donation and regular contribution of Rs 100/- per month.

BRIEF REPORT OF WOMEN'S WING

BACKGROUND
The whole Shia community in Kashmir is backward in every sphere of life. The women are the worst hit in our society. They are being ignored altogether. The education was not imparted to the females till the recent past. The girls outside the Srinagar city are still deprived from education. In nut shell, the woman in our society is living a miserable life.
FORMULATION OF WOMEN WING
A group of educated women established “Women Wing” under the control of the umbrella organization Viz., Idara Falah Aam (Waqf) to oversea the matters relating to females of the community. The Women’s Wing is striving very hard for empowering the women of the community in Kashmir. Indeed, there are great difficulties still persisting in the society which are contributory to the discomforts of the women. The “Women Wing” of the Idara has taken certain initiatives for the wellbeing of the females of the community.
MISSION

01.     Education Awareness Programs - The trust area is education for the females. Every individual member of the Women Wing has been canvassing for female education in every shia locality in Kashmir . The environment is created to motivate the people for imparting education to the girls. The financial assistance is being also provided to the girls for pursuing higher education.
02.   Health Care of the Women - The Women’s Wing comprises of certain doctors, who are working in Govt. Health Centers in Srinagar Kashmir. They specifically focus on the health care of the women of the community. Two poor girls from a remote coastal area of Dal Lake Srinagar (Meerbehri) have been sponsored for paramedical trainings in a private institute. The entire training expenses to the tune of Rs 1.00 lac is borne by the Idara at the moment.
03.      Vocational Training Center - The cutting and tailoring center is being set up at different locations to train the females on an ongoing basis. There is capacity to teach maximum 10 candidates at a time in the center. This has provided earnings to many women.
04.   Help the Poor Women - The poor widows’/women do often approach for funds. Such cases are recommended on merits and most of them are provided a fixed amount on monthly basis. The onetime aid is also sanctioned in favour of certain destitute for their livelihood.

05.      Career Counseling - The women are continuously guided to keep themselves apprised of the situation taking place around the world. The inspiration of self-help is inculcated in the minds of young girls through individual efforts of the members of Women Wing.

Vision

Educatinal Coaching Center - To setup an Educational Coaching Center mostly for science students in a Shia dominated area of Mirbehri, consisting of 50 villages with 20 thousand populations in the Srinagar City. This is an interior coastal area of Dal Lake without connectivity to main roads. There are no transport facilities available in the area of Mirbehri Dal. These villages are linked with the main roads by self-made wooden logs. Mostly people use boats as a means of transport.

Keeping in view all these difficulties, the Women Wing is contemplating to set up a Coaching Centre particularly for science students in the centre of Mirbehri Dal. This will go a long way in helping the females to pull on their studies in the science stream as well.

Cutting and Tailoring Centers - To begin with, a few centers will be opened in different locations for a specific period of time and thereafter shall be shifted to other places on an ongoing basis. The trainees on completion of basic course shall be given sewing machines on loan for their earnings.

Medical Camps - The Doctors working in the Women’s Wing are planning to organize medical camps through out the valley of Kashmir and will provide healthcare services specifically women of the community. The medical tests shall be free along with medicine for the patients.

Sponsorship of Students - The Women Wing would in future help to the full extent under sponsorship scheme destined for poor talented female students. This will also include adoption of female candidates for higher studies by the identified well-off people of the community.

Source of Funds - There is no permanent source of funds of the Women’s Wing. The members of the Women’s Wing generally meet up the expenses of the forum from their own pockets. The forum is not in a position to cater the needs of all the deserving females to a large extent. This is really unfortunate that we could not come up to the expectations of the needy women of the community due to scarcity of the funds.
